Clemson Island to Harrisburg Ending September 09, 2007

River Conditions: The river is currently at 3.0 and clear. Water temp upper 70's.

Hatches: Sulfers

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart. yellow/chart., chart and white, olive and yellow, white Clouser Crawfish size #6.

Other information: The river is very low for this time of the year, regular boating is not an option, the best way to fish now is by foot. Smallies are still scattered almost like a summer pattern.

7 Day Outlook: Scattered showers till mid week. Temps will be more fall like later this week.

Clemson Island to Harrisburg Ending June 24, 2007

River Conditions: The river is currently at 3.3 ft, water temp in low 80's. River is running fairly clear shore to shore.

Hatches: Caddis and damsel flies.

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart. yellow/chart., chart and white, olive and yellow, gizzard shad, Clouser Crawfish size #6, red/white hackle fly.

Other information: Smallies are in there summer pattern and scattered out. The fish are holding tight to structure. Top water bite has been decent very early and very late.

7 Day Outlook: Hazy, Hot, Humid return this week with a chance of thunderstorms everyday. We really need rain bad.

River Conditions: The river is currently at 3.8 ft water temp upper 70's. West shore is clear, east shore is stained.

Hatches: Caddis and Yellow Drake

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart. yellow/chart., chart and white, olive and yellow. Clouser Crawfish size #4.

Other information: Smallies are in there post spawn funk, and the fishing has been tough. Areas to try are close to structure, the smallies seemed to be tight to structure.

7 Day Outlook: Unsettled weather form most of the week with a chance of t-storms each day.

Clemson Island to Harrisburg Ending May 27, 2007

River Conditions: The river is currently at 4.0.Water temp is 73 deg. West shore is stained, east shore is off colored.

Hatches: Caddis and Yellow Drakes.

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart yellow/chart., chart/white, olive/yellow. Clouser Crawfish size #4.

Other information: This is the time of the year were smallies are spawning, with some fish already have. Be careful when fishing we need a good spawn this year. For the post-spawn fish have moved to current breaks and mid-river structure.

7 Day Outlook: Clear and hot for most of the week with a chance of thunderstorms toward the end of the week.

Clemson Island to Harrisburg Ending October 15, 2006

River Conditions: The river is currently at 3.7 and steady, the water is clear and the temp is mid 50's

Hatches: Caddis late afternoon.

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart. yellow/chart., chart and white, olive and yellow, baby smallmouth.

Other information: The key this time of year are warm sunny days, this warms the water and the bass will become active. Full sinking lines and large streamers are the ticket

7 Day Outlook: We will have rain early in the week which with bring the river up a little, temps will be closer to normal. This is good fall fishing, which will probably last two more weeks.

Clemson Island to Harrisburg Ending September 10, 2006

River Conditions: The river is currently at 4.3 we will be getting out on the water now that the high water has passed and hope to update you on more current conditions later in the week.

Hatches:

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart. yellow/chart., chart and white, olive and yellow. Clouser Crawfish size #4-6.

Other information: The water is starting to cool, the smallmouth are going to start on the fall feeding to prepare for the cold weather.

7 Day Outlook: We are hoping for the river to get stable again this week, however they are calling for rain into Friday. There will be a small rise on the river by the weekend.

Clemson Island to Harrisburg Ending August 27, 2006

River Conditions: The river is currently at 3.5 ft and clear the whole way across. Water temp upper 70's. The is an algae bloom happing.

Hatches: Caddis and white millers in the evening.

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart. yellow/chart., chart and white, olive and white. Clouser Crawfish size #4, Poppers in various colors, White and yellow floating minnows.

Other information: Smallies are spread out and in a summer time pattern, there has been a good top water bite in the evenings.

7 Day Outlook: There has been a good amount of rain this past weekend north of Harrisburg, so we will be getting a rise latter this week. A chance of showers through mid-week.

Clemson Island to Harrisburg Ending August 15, 2006

River Conditions: The river is currently at 4.4 ft, water temp low 80's. West shore out to middle is clear, middle to east shore is still off color.

Hatches: Caddis, blue damsels.

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart. yellow/chart., chart and white, olive and yellow, blue claw, brown/tan. Clouser Crawfish size #4. Floating minnows.

Other information: With the low clear water the smallies have moved up on the flats and are in the late summer pattern. Fish the flats and bars during low light periods, and during mid-day work the ledges and riffles.

7 Day Outlook: Low water will continue this week with no real rain in the forecast. Fishing should remain decent.

Clemson Island to Harrisburg Ending August 7, 2006

River Conditions: The river is currently at 3.8 and steady. Water temp mid 80's. West shore to middle is clear, east side is still muddy.

Hatches: Cahills and blue damsels.( white fly for the most part is over.)

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart. yellow/chart., chart and white, olive and yellow, susq shiner, blue claw. Clouser Crawfish size #4-#6.

Other information: With the water dropping the smallmouth have moved up onto the flats and gravel bars. A intermediate or type 2 sinking works well in the shallower water. Fishing this past week has been good but with smaller fish.

7 Day Outlook: The flows should be holding steady. Cooler temps both day and night should make for good fishing.

Clemson Island to Harrisburg Ending July 30, 2006

River Conditions: The river is currently at 4.22, water temp 86 deg. West shore to middle is clear middle to east shore is muddy.

Hatches: Caddis and Yellow Drake. Some white flies are still coming off but the heavier hatch has moved upstream.

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart. yellow/chart., chart and white, olive and yellow, and a new pattern Clouser Blue Claw fly. Clouser Crawfish size #4.

Other information: Fishing is good right now with the smallies holding on mid river structure, especially on the ledges. Full sinking lines are the ticket for presenting your fly over structure. Had a chance to fish with Bob Clouser this past week and fished a new pattern of his Blue Claw fly that was very effective on the larger smallmouth bass.

7 Day Outlook: We are hoping for the river to get stable again this week, there is a small rise coming down for New York early in the week. After that steady stages are expected. Very hot weather with thunderstorms at the end of the week. Fishing should remain good this week.

Clemson Island to Harrisburg Ending July 23, 2006

River Conditions: The river is currently at 4.6 and rising again from weekend rains up north. The west shore was clear out to middle, middle to east shore is still muddy. Water temp 85.

Hatches: The white flies are here, also caddis and yellow drakes.

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart. yellow/chart., chart and white, olive and yellow. Clouser Crawfish size #8, white wullfs and white popper or floating minnows.

Other information: The fishing has really improved this past week with some good number days. Smallmouth are holding on summer structure and fishing sinking lines getting the fly down in the higher flow is the ticket. Evening fishing during the white fly has been very good as well.

7 Day Outlook: The river is receiving afoot or so rise and that will make fishing tough for most of the week. Conditions should improve for the weekend and the fishing should be good.

River Conditions: The river is currently 5.0 ft and slowly falling. West side to middle is in good shape, middle to east is still muddy. Water temp 78deg.

Hatches: Caddis and Yellow Drake

Fly patterns: #2-4 Clouser minnows in chart. yellow/chart., chart and white, olive and yellow. Clouser Crawfish size #8.

Other information: Fishing has picked up since the recent flooding. The key right now is to fish mid-river structure, really working the fly aggressively.

7 Day Outlook: The river is starting to get stable, however they are calling for Thunderstorms mid week. White flies should start showing up, starting south of Harrisburg and working there way up stream the rest of the month.

Water Level at Harrisburg: 9.0 ft and slowly falling.

River Conditions: From the rain from last week we have had flooding conditions. The river is a mess.
